Privacy Policy

This policy describes what Rent Bros ("RentBros," "we," "us") collects on the RentBros marketplace at rentbros.com, and who handles it. We are based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, Texas. We do not publish a street address. To ask a question or ask us to delete information, email hello@rentbros.com.

What we collect

• Account: first name, last name, email, and a hash of your password. We do not store the password itself.
• Phone number, whether it is verified, and a log of text-message send attempts (account, number, and time) so we can limit abuse. We do not store the verification code.
• A photo of a government ID, and the review status (unverified, pending, verified, or rejected). The photo is a private file.
• Business profile: name, trade, city, state, owner type, and the last four digits of an EIN if you provide them. Do not send a full tax ID.
• Payout status and the Stripe connected-account id. Stripe holds the bank details.
• Listings: description, prices, photos, town, ZIP, map coordinates, weight, delivery options, deposit, and idle dates.
• Booking requests: dates, quantity, message, quote, delivery choice, certificate file and the coverage boxes you checked, deposit amount and hold id, and the time and version of the Equipment Rental Agreement you accepted.
• Insurance certificates you upload, stored as private files.
• Founding-owner form at /join, if you use it without an account: name, company, phone, email, city, trade, category choices, notes, the link source, and the browser user agent.
• Email notices we send, stored so there is a record if email delivery is off.
• Admin actions on listings (who did what, and when).

Why we collect it

We use this information to run accounts, review listings and IDs, send booking notices, place a deposit hold, pay owners through Stripe, prevent fraud, and keep the records a dispute may need. We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context advertising.

Processors

• Stripe. Connect Express payouts, and the bank account you connect there. Stripe is the fees collector and the losses collector on that product. Deposit holds are Stripe PaymentIntents when live card holds are on. If we turn on Stripe Identity, Stripe also processes the ID document and selfie. Stripe's privacy policy applies to what you give Stripe.
• Twilio. Text-message verification codes through Twilio Verify, when that service is configured.
• Resend. Transactional email, when an API key and a from-address are configured. If they are not, we keep the notice in our database and do not send it.
• Vercel. Hosting for the site.
• Neon. The Postgres database that stores accounts, listings, bookings, and related records.
• Vercel Blob. Listing photos are stored for public display. ID photos and insurance certificates are stored as private blobs when that upload succeeds. If a private blob upload fails, the file is stored in our database instead and is still served only through a private link.

ID photos

ID photos are private. A public listing page does not show them. The account owner and a verified admin can open the file. We keep the photo while the account is open so we can review identity. If you email us to delete it, we delete the file unless we still need it for an open dispute, a fraud review, or a legal duty. In that case we keep it only for that need, then delete it. We do not use ID photos to advertise.

Founding-owner form

The /join form is a request list for founding owners. It does not create an account and it does not charge a card. We keep those answers so we can follow up. A QR code may add a source tag so we know which flyer you scanned. You can email us to delete a lead.

Cookies and sessions

Signing in sets a session cookie so you stay logged in. We use it to run the account. We do not use advertising cookies. The browser may also store a listing draft on your device until you submit or clear it.

How long we keep information

We keep account, listing, and booking records while the account is open and as long as we need them for payouts, deposit disputes, fraud, tax, or a legal claim. Lead-form answers stay until you ask us to delete them or we no longer need them to follow up. Send-attempt logs and email-verification tokens are kept for security and then age out of ordinary use.

No sale of personal information

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share it with the processors above so they can do the job we hired them to do, with the other user on a booking when the booking requires it, and when the law requires us to.

Your choices

Email hello@rentbros.com to access, correct, or delete personal information we have about you. We will delete what we are not required to keep. We may need to confirm you control the email on the account. Texas residents can use this same address for an access or deletion request. We will not discriminate against you for asking.

Children

RentBros is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.

Security

Passwords are stored as hashes. Private files are not published as listing photos. No method of storage or transmission is perfect. Use a unique password and tell us if you think an account was accessed without permission.

Changes

We may update this policy by posting a new version with a new date. The version in effect on October 22, 2026 is 2026-10-22. Continued use of the site after that date means you accept the update.
